Ben Levitan is an expert in the 9-1-1 emergency system field, and was a pioneer in developing the Enhanced 9-1-1 system. Levitan has several 9-1-1 related patents pending, and he was a member of the Post 9/11 National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee Wireless task force charged with developing Wireless Priority Service (WPS) for the cellular network.

Ben Levitan was a charter member of the Joint Wireless and Wireline Standards Committee that developed the Enhanced 9-1-1 system. Enhanced 9-1-1, also known as E9-1-1, is a telephone network feature of the 9-1-1 emergency-calling systems that automatically associates a location and a callback number with the caller’s telephone number, as required by the Wireless Communications and Public Safety Act of 1999.

The 9-1-1 system has been the subject of numerous lawsuits. With his expertise in the system design and operation of the standard emergency services system used by the 6,000 Public Safety Answer Points (PSAP) facilities in the United States, Ben Levitan can expertly evaluate and pinpoint the cause of response delay to determine if there has been gross negligence.
